These animals are the greatest teachers of resiliency. Many of them have endured terrible situations, and yet they come to SH with open hearts, a willingness to trust, and the innate desire to give love and be loved in return.

At Sammie’s House, each rescued animal is treated with the utmost special attention and given, at minimum, one month to be the resident “new kid”. This allows the newest rescue time to settle into the property and the pack. Introducing only one new animal at a time ensures a safe, successful, and low stress adaptation period which is so different from other overwhelmed and overcrowded rescues. This also allows time for a thorough medical assessment and any needed treatment to begin, as we know oftentimes what we see as aggression or poor temperament is actually a sign of pain or sickness.
