At Sammie’s House Animal Sanctuary, senior dogs don’t pass through.
They stay.
Many of the dogs who arrive here are older. Some are medically fragile. Some have been surrendered at the end of their lives simply because the care became too complicated or too expensive. What they need isn’t a quick placement. They need stability.
So we make a different kind of promise.
Our residents live kennel-free on our 2.5-acre sanctuary in Middleburg, Florida. They nap on couches. They wander the yard at their own pace. They receive medications on schedule. They are monitored closely. And when the hard days come, they are held.
This isn’t short-term rescue. It’s lifelong sanctuary.That kind of commitment is beautiful. It is also steady, ongoing work. The food has to be purchased every month. The prescription refills don’t pause. The vet visits still happen. The fencing still needs maintenance. The goats still need hay.
Our average monthly operating cost is about $1,000.
