Meet Piggy, Lizzy, and Bella!
Thank you so much for your kind words last week and the warm welcome you gave Cabela. Many of our old neighbors still check in often to see how she is doing! Besides getting a scolding for stealing a package of English Muffins off the counter the other day, she is doing terrific! 🤣
This week, the introductions continue. You'll notice one glaring difference straight off the bat - two of the new faces you're meeting today are NOT dogs! Take a look below to learn more about these new SH residents.
Meet Mr. Piggy! 🐷 🐰
Piggy is a Giant Continental Rabbit - meaning he is HUGE! He weighs in at a whopping 16lbs and eats constantly. Piggy was in a need of a new home for a couple different reasons, none of which were through fault of his own. In the Easter spirit, we decided to add “bunny” to the SH roster! And, at 7 years old, he certainly fits in as another senior resident.
Piggy is extremely affectionate. He hops excitedly over to us to say hi, takes snacks from our hands, headbutts us for attention and looooves head and ear pets. He's basically like a super soft little dog 🥰 I like to hang out in his room when I need a little midday zen 🧘♀️✌🏼
Meet Lizzy! 🦎
Lizzy is about 5 years old and a HUGE male bearded dragon 🐉. He isn’t exactly a rescue either - but his previous home had plans to “get rid of him” 😑 So now he lives with us! 🥰
Since coming to SH, Lizzy has gotten a tank upgrade and met most of the dogs (they don’t find him too interesting, except when he “tank surfs” - like the lizard version of zoomies 😂).
Lizzy likes hunting crickets and snacking on super worms 🐛, and we try to give him a variety of appropriate veggies to sample. Mainly, he just likes snoozing on his rock under his heat lamp and enjoys being fat, happy, and not doing a whole lot 😂 Can’t blame ya, Lizzy!
Last but certainly not least, meet sweet Bella. ♥️
Bella isn’t exactly a SH rescue - she came as a package deal with Myke, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Sweet Bella was similarly outlawed by Lilly and therefore spent her time hanging out with Cabela. Now, both of “The Bellas”, as we affectionately call them, get to enjoy pack life but have definitely become BFFs.
Myke found Bella being rehomed during the pandemic and we think she is about 8 years old now. When he met her, she immediately chose him and has been stuck to him like glue ever since. She’s one of those angel dogs who somehow instinctively has perfect recall, leaves animals alone, and is pretty indifferent to other dogs. She is definitely a guard dog and rivals Sammie for sheriff duty, especially when she knows Myke isn’t home. Besides her instinct to protect us, she loves dancing (and whistling 😂) for her dinner, peanut butter bones, and ripping the stuffing out of toys.
